Introduction:The Medical College (MC) was established in 1983, as a part of the Aga Khan University's (AKU) Faculty of Health Sciences in Pakistan. It attaches great emphasis to the professional, personal and intellectual development of faculty and students, so that its graduates become contributory members and leaders of society.
The programmes offered by the Medical College are tailored to international standards in curriculum, student engagement and assessment, and aim to develop clinical competence in community settings and hospitals, as well as the assessment of health and prevention of disease in communities through primary health-care programmes.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Manager (Graduate Studies), Deans Office.
Job Role / Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the overall management, development, and implementation of the graduate programs. You will work closely with the academic departments, faculty members, and other stakeholders to ensure that the programmes are of high quality and meet the needs of students and the institution. Additionally, you will lead the functions of the Directorate of Graduate Studies and advise the Director of Graduate Studies in formulating and achieving strategic goals to sustain and further improve the delivery of world-class and periodically validated Graduate programs at AKU.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- coordinate the recruitment and admissions process for graduate programmes
- innovate the interview process to screen out the best candidates
- organise orientation sessions for the new inductees
- facilitate the development of assessment tools through faculty members
- ensure that the system of merit is followed while candidates are selected for the programs
- provide a platform for the students to present their research work by arranging conferences
- approve funds to carry out research projects in consultation with the Director of Graduate studies
- facilitate graduate students to present their research work within and outside of AKU
- ensure that protected time is built into the curriculum to carry out research projects
- develop and implement policies and procedures related to graduate programs in consultation with the Director of Graduate studies
- collaborate and communicate with program teams for ensuring the timely delivery of educational activities and monitoring of students' progress
- collaborate and communicate with different departments for ensuring the availability of space and other logistics for conducting educational and research activities
- conduct internal and external reviews for validation and for further improving and strengthening graduate programs
- implement recommendations made by the external review team
- strengthen assessment of knowledge, skills and attributes of graduate education by periodic review of current evaluation systems and by introducing newer assessment methodologies
- equip students with state-of-the-art information technology and provide infrastructure to facilitate them in their learning and research work
- provide opportunities for graduate students to present their research work at national and international forums by facilitating in the acquisition of funds for local and overseas travel
- recognise the efforts made by the trainees to complete their training by coordinating and managing the Graduation Ceremony
- prepare annual budget in consultation with all program directors/coordinators
- manage the budget and resources for graduate programmes
- monitor Budget Variance Reports and take appropriate measures as necessary
- ensure proper allocation of funds for research and academic activities in the budget
- prepare costing of new programs in coordination with Finance and Director Dean's Office.
Qualifications
Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:
You should have:
- Master's in Business Administration or any other relevant field
- minimum five to seven years of work experience in teaching hospital and/or academic institution
- strong leadership and management skills
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- strong organisational and planning skills
- ability to work independently and in a team environment
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- strong understanding of higher education policies and the accreditation process
- experience with budget management, costing and resource allocation
- experience with program development and review
- experience with providing advice and support to students
- strong understanding of research activities and initiatives for graduate students.
