Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Backend BI Developer to join our Global IT – Business Intelligence team. This role focuses on building and optimizing enterprise-grade BI systems, including Power BI reporting, ETL pipelines, and data warehousing architectures. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical depth in BI backend development, data modeling, and cross-functional collaboration to drive data insights and decision-making.

The Role

As an Analyst IT – Application Business Intelligence (Global), you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of mission-critical BI reporting and data integration solutions. You will collaborate with global teams to gather requirements, design technical solutions, build ETL workflows, and deliver scalable BI reporting layers across enterprise systems.

This role also involves troubleshooting performance issues, creating reusable data assets, developing dashboards, and ensuring optimal performance of BI environments. You will work across structured and unstructured data, transforming it into business-ready insights for internal and external users.

The Location: Islamabad, Pakistan (On-site or Hybrid, as applicable)

SKILLSET / EXPERTISE

We're looking for a BI expert with the following qualifications and capabilities:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise BI systems and data warehousing.
• Strong SQL skills with in-depth experience on RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL, etc.).
• Proven experience designing data warehouses, data marts, and ETL pipelines.
• Advanced knowledge of Power BI, Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, Report Studio, Query Studio, Analysis Studio).
• Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, Talend, Informatica (Informatica preferred).
• Understanding of logical and physical data modeling and dimensional modeling.
• Strong background in performance tuning and query optimization.
• Familiarity with cloud BI/data platforms (e.g., Azure Synapse, Snowflake, BigQuery) is a plus.
• Scripting knowledge in Python, R, or similar (optional but beneficial).
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
• Proven ability to work with cross-functional internal and external teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) and best practices in configuration management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze business requirements and design end-to-end BI and reporting solutions.
• Translate business logic into data models, ETL workflows, and Power BI dashboards.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data transformations.
• Load and maintain data in data stores, warehouses, and marts.
• Ensure high availability and performance of BI platforms for internal/external users.
• Provide ongoing technical support, training, and documentation for BI tools.
• Develop automated reporting and reusable components for recurring analysis.
• Manage version control, change tracking, and release documentation.
• Conduct unit testing, validate output, and ensure data quality.
• Support global reporting needs and help streamline business operations with data

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Collaborate with stakeholders to capture business requirements for reporting.
• Design and implement reporting logic, metadata layers, and reusable views.
• Monitor and troubleshoot issues across BI platforms and backend infrastructure.
• Lead the deployment and integration of new BI tools and technologies.
• Coordinate with system owners and developers to integrate data from multiple sources.
• Supervise the monthly release cycle and ensure QA testing of new features.
• Maintain documentation for data flows, architecture, and system changes.
• Contribute to BI strategy, tool selection, and platform scalability.
• Stay updated on best practices and new technologies in the BI/Analytics space

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field from a recognized and reputable university. A strong academic background is essential.
