We are hiring a Medical Coder to join our back-end billing operations team. This role is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation, assigning accurate diagnosis and procedure codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), and ensuring compliance with payer guidelines and coding best practices. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of U.S. healthcare billing standards and coding accuracy.
Role Overview:
We are hiring a Medical Coder to join our back-end billing operations team. This role is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation, assigning accurate diagnosis and procedure codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), and ensuring compliance with payer guidelines and coding best practices. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of U.S. healthcare billing standards and coding accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:- Review patient charts, visit notes, and superbills for coding completeness
- Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on documentation
- Apply modifiers accurately where needed based on payer-specific rules
- Collaborate with the charge entry and claim submission team to ensure coding accuracy
- Stay updated on changes in coding rules, CMS updates, and payer-specific policies
- Assist in internal coding audits and ensure compliance with HIPAA and regulatory standards
- Support denial management team with coding clarification and appeals, if required
- Certification in Medical Coding (CPC, CCS, or equivalent)
- 1–2 years of hands-on experience in U.S. medical coding
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes and modifiers
- Familiarity with various specialties is a plus
- Experience with billing software, EHRs, and clearinghouse portals
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance and U.S. billing standards
