Job Responsibilities:

  1. Installing and maintaining required database software versions on different platforms.
  2. Installation capabilities of single instance and Oracle Real Application Cluster.
  3. Creating storage database structures with high-level security features.
  4. Altering storage structures to meet the evolving needs of the company.
  5. Training users on how to access the information in the database.
  6. Finding and debugging malfunctioning programs affecting the database integrity.
  7. Building DB systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user's specialized role.
  8. Designing and implementing databases in accordance with end user's information needs and views.
  9. Defining users and enabling data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner.
  10. Using high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backing up data.
  11. Minimizing database downtime and managing parameters to provide fast query responses.
  12. Providing proactive and reactive data management support and training to users.
  13. Determining, enforcing, and documenting database policies, procedures, and standards.
  14. Performing tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.
  15. Monitoring performance, implementing changes, and applying new patches and versions when required.
  16. Taking ownership of performance and capacity monitoring aspects of the DB.
  17. Performance testing and evaluation to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity; identification of bottlenecks and deadlock issues.
  18. Expertise in Oracle built-in auditing and database audit vault and firewall.
  19. Database replication on cross-platform using Golden Gate technologies.
  20. Implementing database masking and data deduction rules on UAT and test databases.
  21. Hands-on experience in performance tuning using SQL scripting and tools.
  22. Expertise in implementing Oracle Data Guard in Maximum Protection and Availability mode.
  23. Performing point-in-time and cancel-based recovery using Recovery Manager and CatLog.
  24. Ensuring SLAs and operational KPIs are met, working as necessary with internal and external support functions when major incidents occur.
  25. Implementing installation/configuration of Data Guard Broker and testing all failover scenarios.
  26. Configuring OEM, Grid Control, and generating Stats pack reports.
  27. Storage Administrator (using Oracle ASM feature).
  28. Database migration and upgrade of critical databases with minimum downtime.
  29. Proactively monitoring all DB health and taking preventive or corrective action as required.
  30. Performance analysts monitor DB performance and identify areas where improvement is needed.
  31. Prior knowledge of DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third-party tools is required.
  32. Ensuring SLAs and operational KPIs are fulfilled, collaborating with internal and external support departments as needed when large events occur.
  33. Defining, documenting, and implementing standards and complicated models to monitor and improve the database's capacity and performance.
  34. Maintaining database reports, visualizations, and dashboards to help existing workflows.
  35. Troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues to contribute to continuous improvements.
  36. Developing, implementing, and managing database security policies and procedures.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining Oracle databases (single instance and RAC).
  • Experience with Oracle Data Guard, Golden Gate replication, and high availability solutions.
  • Expertise in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and resolving database issues.
  • Experience in database migration, upgrades, and point-in-time recovery.
  • Familiarity with Oracle ASM, OEM, Grid Control, and Stats pack reports.
  • Knowledge of database security, auditing, and data masking.
  • Experience in developing and implementing database policies, procedures, and standards.

Technical Skills:

  • Oracle Database Administration: Installing and maintaining Oracle database software on various platforms; configuring and managing Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC); implementing and managing Oracle Data Guard for high availability.
  • Performance Tuning and Optimization: Using SQL scripting and tools for performance tuning; identifying and resolving bottlenecks and deadlock issues; monitoring database performance and applying patches/upgrades.
  • Database Security and Auditing: Implementing Oracle built-in auditing and Database Audit Vault; configuring data masking and data reduction rules for UAT and test databases.
  • Backup and Recovery: Performing point-in-time and cancel-based recovery using Recovery Manager (RMAN); ensuring data security and integrity through regular backups and recovery tests.
  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in SQL scripting for automation and database management; developing scripts for monitoring, backups, and troubleshooting.
  • Documentation and Collaboration: Maintaining comprehensive technical documentation and database policies; collaborating with IT staff to plan and implement database upgrades.

  • Leadership: Capable of leading database support efforts and mentoring junior staff.

Education:

BSCS or equivalent degree.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP): Oracle Database Administrator.
  • Oracle Certified Master (OCM): Oracle Database.
  • Oracle Certified Expert: Oracle RAC and Grid Infrastructure Administrator.
  • Oracle Certified Specialist: Oracle Data Guard.
