The position of Deputy Chief Engineer – NDT & GTA oversees the application of NDT techniques on SSGC's pipeline. Responsibilities include supervising a team to ensure the integrity and reliability of critical infrastructure within the natural gas transmission system, as well as formulation, execution, and monitoring of GTAs.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Organize non-destructive testing (NDT) services through third-party providers to obtain impartial assessments of pipeline conditions, ensuring compliance with international standards and that inspectors are trained and certified.
  • Review reports and assessment data from service providers.
  • Ensure NDT testing techniques are applied correctly to monitor pipeline integrity and detect defects early.
  • Review welding tenders, including bills of quantities and technical details, and provide technical inputs.
  • Check method statements and standard operating procedures for project monitoring, seek approval from HSE & QA department.
  • Monitor third-party inspection and construction activities, supervise NDT activities, and implement quality assurance measures.
  • Conduct assessments of critical infrastructure using NDT techniques, providing insights into structural integrity.
  • Monitor pipeline project activities such as excavation, pigging, commissioning, and handover.
  • Prepare pre-qualification tenders for inspections, NDT testing, welding, radiography, etc.
  • Review documentation for project finalization.
  • Formulate and finalize technical aspects of Transportation Agreements in coordination with departments like Finance, Transmission, and Measurement.
  • Coordinate with government and private entities for comments on draft agreements, ensure timely communication and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Identify deviations, assess risks, develop risk response strategies, and monitor these strategies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely risk reporting.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by superiors.
