To provide effective support to the Finance team in ensuring an efficient and effective financial environment and provide staff with the financial services and advice they need to ensure that the financial resources are effectively managed and comply with policies and procedures.

The incumbent will be primarily responsible for transaction review, partner advance releases, and ensuring that data entered into the financial system is complete and accurate.

Key responsibilities:

  • Review of payment requests (invoices, bills, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, GRN, etc.) for compliance
  • Follow up with relevant staff for incomplete documentation
  • Entering transactions into financial software (SHF)
  • Reviewing staff claims for compliance and processing
  • Filing transaction vouchers for quick retrieval as needed
  • Supporting local chapters when required
  • Salary processing
  • Dealing with banks

Petty cash:

  • Handling petty cash payments, maintaining appropriate liquid cash, and replenishment

Audit:

  • Providing documentation to internal and external auditors
  • Explaining transaction details when requested

Education and experience:

Education:

  • MBA or M.Com/MS in Accounting, preferably in Finance or Accounting

Experience:

  • Two or three years of hands-on experience in a similar capacity within NGO/INGO

Interpersonal and Communication Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Time Management:

  • Ability to apply analytical skills in developing long-term and short-term plans
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and workload

Teamwork:

  • Proven track record of fostering teamwork and performing effectively in a team

Relationship Management:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to create a climate of trust and transparency

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
