Job Summary

Perform professional oral interpretation (e.g., medical interviews, education sessions, lectures, meetings) and written translation (e.g., technical documents, official documents, communications) from Arabic to English or vice versa.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Translate documents from/to Arabic and English, including government documents, letters, reports, etc.
  • Interpret discussions, medical interviews, education sessions, lectures, and meetings to facilitate clear understanding among all parties, including legal advisors and government authorities.
  • Maintain respect towards patients, collaborators, authorities, and IMC staff during discussions.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all translations as directed by the Project coordination team.
  • Provide neutral and accurate interpretation/translation, requesting clarification as needed.
  • Perform all verbal and written translations without personal bias.
  • Declare any conflicts of interest when interpreting or translating.

Perform other duties as assigned. The listed duties are representative and not exhaustive.

Minimum Qualifications

  • University or higher education degree in translation/linguistics (English).
  • Previous experience as an interpreter/translator.
  • Experience with international organizations or NGOs is desirable.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and Arabic.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an advantage.
  • Experience in writing formal documents.
