Overview

The AME B1 (Heavy Maintenance) will be responsible for performing and certifying maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities on aircraft structures, powerplants, and mechanical systems during heavy maintenance checks. This role requires strict compliance with aviation regulations, technical expertise, and a focus on ensuring aircraft safety, reliability, and airworthiness.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out scheduled and unscheduled heavy maintenance checks on aircraft in accordance with approved manuals and procedures.
  • Perform troubleshooting, rectification, and certification of defects on aircraft systems (airframe, engines, and associated mechanical systems).
  • Ensure timely completion and release of aircraft within defined Turn-Around Times (TATs).
  • Certify aircraft/engine systems within the scope of B1 authorization.
  • Ensure compliance with DGCA/EASA/FAA regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
  • Accurately complete all maintenance documentation, technical logs, and reports.
  • Support regulatory audits, quality inspections, and continuous airworthiness activities.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols during maintenance tasks.
  • Identify and escalate potential risks or safety concerns.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and facilities are maintained in safe and serviceable condition.
  • Work closely with B2 engineers, technicians, and planners during heavy maintenance inputs.
  • Coordinate with planning, logistics, and materials teams for parts availability.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Valid AME License – B1 (DGCA/EASA/FAA) with aircraft type rating on [insert specific aircraft type, e.g., A320, B737, etc.].
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in heavy/base maintenance (airframe & powerplant).
  • Thorough knowledge of aviation regulatory requirements and quality systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and leadership abilities.
  • Willingness to work in shifts and extended hours as required during heavy checks.
Preferred Background
  • Experience with leading MROs or airlines in heavy maintenance.
  • Exposure to multiple aircraft types is an advantage.
