Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Category Manager to oversee and drive the performance of assigned product categories in our retail superstore. The role is responsible for developing and executing category strategies that optimize product assortment, pricing, promotions, and supply chain efficiency to enhance customer satisfaction and drive sales and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Category Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive category plans based on market trends, consumer behavior, and sales analytics.
- Set sales, margin, and inventory targets for categories in alignment with company objectives.
- Identify growth opportunities within categories and lead range development and SKU rationalization.
- Identify, negotiate, and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure best prices, quality, and timely delivery.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and develop long-term strategic partnerships.
- Source new products and innovations to maintain a competitive edge.
- Build and manage product assortments tailored to customer preferences and seasonal demands.
- Develop pricing strategies that maintain competitiveness while achieving margin goals.
- Plan and execute promotional campaigns in collaboration with the marketing team.
4. Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination:
- Monitor stock levels and collaborate with supply chain and planning teams to maintain optimal inventory.
- Ensure accurate forecasting and timely replenishment to reduce stockouts and overstocks.
- Manage markdown planning and clearance strategies to minimize aged inventory.
5. Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Analyze sales, profit margins, and other key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate category performance.
- Prepare and present weekly/monthly reports and dashboards to senior management.
- Take corrective actions based on performance insights and market feedback.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Marketing, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in retail category management, preferably in a superstore or FMCG environment.
- Proven experience in product assortment, vendor negotiation, pricing strategy, and promotion planning.
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and data analytics tools.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Good understanding of consumer trends and retail dynamics.
Working Hours: 10 AM – 7 PM, Monday to Saturday
Salary Range: 120K – 190K
