Project Environmental Policy Analyst

This role requires a skilled and experienced professional to lead the production of the Policy and Institutional Review (PIR) and provide initial inputs to support the development of the Biodiversity Finance Plan. The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental policy and biodiversity-related projects, with experience in collaborating with international and national experts and institutions.

The Project Environmental Policy Analyst will be responsible for assessing and describing significant biodiversity-related policies and legal frameworks, identifying existing finance solutions relevant to biodiversity finance, and producing drafts and analyses that will be reviewed and validated by the project lead and team.

The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They will also have a strong understanding of environmental finance and economics, as well as experience working with large portfolios under biodiversity and climate financing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the production of the Policy and Institutional Review (PIR)
  • Provide initial inputs to support the development of the Biodiversity Finance Plan
  • Assess and describe significant biodiversity-related policies and legal frameworks
  • Identify existing finance solutions relevant to biodiversity finance
  • Produce drafts and analyses for review and validation

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in public policy or economic policy with an environment/biodiversity/economic focus
  • 2+ years of experience in environmental policy and biodiversity-related projects
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of environmental finance and economics
  • Experience working with large portfolios under biodiversity and climate financing
