Business Development Leader - Pakistan

This leadership role is responsible for setting up, launching, and scaling the company's fintech business in Pakistan. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of the banking and financial ecosystem, experience working with NBFCs, a strong regulatory understanding, and an established network of key stakeholders in the banking, government, and fintech sectors.


Responsibilities
  • Business Growth and Strategy
    • Define and implement the country strategy, operational plan, and go-to-market initiatives to drive business growth.
    • Establish and manage all functions, including operations, compliance, finance, partnerships, and sales to ensure seamless execution.


  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Lead all interactions with regulatory bodies (e.g., SECP, SBP, PTA, FBR) to ensure continuous compliance with Pakistan's financial regulations and policies.
    • Obtain necessary licenses (e.g., NBFC, EMI, Payment System Operator/Provider, etc.) and maintain relationships with local banks, government offices, financial institutions, and strategic partners.


  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders, regulatory panels, and other ecosystem players to foster collaboration and growth.
    • Represent the company in front of industry bodies and regulatory panels to promote our fintech business in Pakistan.


  • Partnerships and Alliances
    • Negotiate and establish strategic partnerships with banks, telcos, fintech platforms, and other ecosystem players to drive business growth and expansion.
    • Maintain and leverage a strong network in the financial and regulatory ecosystem to identify new opportunities and collaborations.


  • Team Leadership
    • Recruit, build, and lead a high-performing local team to drive business growth and execution.
    • Promote a results-driven and entrepreneurial culture aligned with company values and objectives.


  • Problem Solving and Operations
    • Resolve business, operational, or regulatory challenges by driving continuous improvement across customer experience, product rollouts, and operational processes.
    • Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall performance.



Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in financial services, fintech, or banking
  • Prior leadership experience in launching or scaling fintech operations in Pakistan
  • In-depth understanding of Pakistan's financial regulatory environment (SECP, SBP, NBFCs)
  • Proven experience working with or managing NBFCs, digital banking, EMI or payment platforms
  • Existing network across banks, regulators, and industry stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build from scratch and drive execution
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and strategic thinking skills
