Responsibilities
  • Manage pharmacy services by implementing policies and procedures.
  • Provide frontline team management and coaching to pharmacy staff.
  • Precept and coordinate training for pharmacy students, serving as a role model for trainee pharmacists.
  • Maintain basic job requirements like interpreting physician orders, compounding, dispensing, patient education, controlled drugs management, and inventory management of pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Maintain a collegial relationship within and outside departments, focusing on improving departmental image and performance.
  • Manage acute shortages and provide assistance and oversight to staff.
  • Contribute valuable suggestions for efficient staff utilization.
  • Identify operational or clinical problems and bring them to management's attention with possible solutions.
  • Participate in clinical research activities and publications.
  • Assist in implementing optimal drug therapy plans, guidelines, and protocols; identify, resolve, and prevent potential and actual drug-related problems.
  • Ensure proper inventory and handling of drugs and other pharmacy-related supplies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy/Pharm D, Master's degree in Pharmacy or Professional Registration preferred.
  • At least four to six years of experience in tertiary care hospital pharmacy, with two years at supervisory level.
  • Ability to interpret prescriptions, formularies, and their pharmacological actions.
  • Demonstrate supervisory skills and ability to work with people of various backgrounds and training.
  • May be assigned to work in any area of the hospital pharmacy as required.
  • Experience of continued career development.
  • Working knowledge of hospital pharmacy services and various drug distribution systems.
  • Teaching experience with pharmacy apprentices or in a school of pharmacy preferred.
