Senior Accounting Officer

The Senior Accounting Officer plays a pivotal role in the finance team, responsible for critical accounting functions including general ledger management, revenue accounting, and financial reporting.

This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and timely preparation of financial reports.

The month-end close process, reconciliations, and supporting audits are key areas of focus for this role, with a goal of improving processes and maintaining strong internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee accounting operations for assigned entities, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions in the general ledger;
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications;
  • Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including the preparation of closing entries;
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner;
  • Lead the revenue function to ensure all revenue is accounted for in accordance with policies and accounting guidelines;
  • Review and process data to ensure completeness and accuracy of data in the Revenue system;
  • Determine and process contract updates, revenue adjustments, and other journals in the Revenue System and the data warehouse;
  • Collaborate with other functions and business controllers to meet business objectives;
  • Own monthly revenue close procedures, including preparation of revenue and deferred revenue related journal entries, reconciliations, uploading transactions to Netsuite, and close presentations;
  • Analyze revenue and deferred revenue trends to provide visibility into relationships and drive revenue optimization initiatives;
  • Partner with cross-functional business partners and third parties to implement best practices, automation, and continuous process improvements;
  • Support revenue-related system implementations and perform user acceptance testing;
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis as needed;
  • Maintain necessary financial and control records along with supporting documentation related to Revenue for audit;
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects to support business initiatives, including assessment of new contracts, customer summaries, and new internal revenue reporting needs.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of General Ledger & Revenue accounting experience;
  • Experience in revenue and sales analysis data;
  • Software clients or industry/SaaS company experience preferred;
  • NetSuite experience a plus;
  • Strong working knowledge of Software Revenue Recognition Accounting - ASC 606 and IFRS 15;
  • A thorough understanding of IFRS/USGAPP/IndAs;
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA/ ACCA / CPA /CMA) required;
  • Super-user (Advanced) in Excel;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Highly organized, with great attention to detail;
  • Confidence and proven record of communicating both orally and written;
  • Ability to interact effectively with sales and product teams, functional peer groups, and subordinates;
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of multiple concurrent and diversified tasks while working with deadlines.
