Data Engineering Lead

About the Role
  • We are seeking an experienced Data Engineering Lead to join our team.

This is a senior leadership position that requires hands-on expertise in designing, building, and maintaining real-time and batch data pipelines using streaming frameworks like Kafka, Apache Flink, and Spark Structured Streaming.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud-based data orchestration, containerization using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, as well as experience with modern storage solutions like Parquet, Delta Lake, and Iceberg.

We're looking for someone who thrives in agile environments and can collaborate with DevOps teams to manage infrastructure and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.

In this role, you will lead the development of high-performance analytics engines using tools like Trino or Presto, ensure data quality and consistency using Great Expectations, and participate in sprint planning and reviews.

You will be working closely with our team to design and implement efficient data pipelines, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Advanced Python programming with a focus on modular and testable code.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience working with large-scale datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform.
  • Solid experience with real-time data processing using Kafka, Flink, or Spark Streaming.
  • Expertise in Apache Spark (PySpark) for batch processing.
  • Experience implementing lakehouse architectures and working with columnar storage.
  • Proficient in using Azure Data Factory or Apache Airflow for data orchestration.
  • Familiarity with data lake open formats like Parquet, Delta Lake, and Iceberg.
  • Basic experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
  • Practical experience with data quality frameworks like Great Expectations.
  • Comfortable working in agile development teams.
