Water Infrastructure Manager

The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the implementation of water and sanitation activities in humanitarian contexts. This includes conducting assessments, planning, designing, implementing projects, supervising activities, and managing resources related to water and sanitation programs.

The officer contributes to developing project proposals, providing data in collaboration with the team, and administering technical interventions. They also support capacity building of national staff and stakeholders involved in water and sanitation programs, plan and execute water projects, maintain networks with stakeholders and donors, ensure project monitoring, reviews, donor reporting, learning documentation, and support for project closure and exit strategies.

• Conduct rapid needs assessments and analyses with the team.
• Support the transition from needs identified to activity plans and budgets.

• Implement water response programs aligned with strategy.
• Develop project proposals, concepts papers, and budgets.
• Design and implement water systems, including source selection, layout, BoQ, drawings, and equipment, for various contexts.
• Prepare hardware components for IPC activities, supervise, and train teams.
• Manage procurement processes and follow-up on resource use.
• Ensure adherence to SPHERE standards and document compliance.
• Collaborate with HR for hiring and capacity building of WASH staff.
• Conduct training on water quality, plumbing, and data management.
• Prepare progress reports and ensure gender and protection considerations.
• Coordinate with related sectors and ensure integration of health, nutrition, and protection aspects.

• Provide regular updates on water activities.
• Participate in project meetings and represent the organization externally.

• Bachelor's degree in Water and Sanitation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• At least three years of experience in designing and implementing water and sanitation systems in humanitarian contexts, including two years in emergency settings.
• Experience supervising contractors and engaging with international stakeholders.
• Field experience managing national WASH programs in complex humanitarian settings.
• Knowledge of linking water with other sectors and understanding gender challenges.
• Proficiency in Windows and engineering software like AutoCAD, WaterCAD, etc.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.
