The role of Community Outreach Support is crucial in empowering livestock farmers through Farmer Field Schools (FFS).

Job Description

The Community Outreach Support will work under the supervision of the FAO Representative in Pakistan and report to the Senior Programme Officer. The incumbent will be part of a technical team and collaborate closely with sectoral specialists and project teams at both provincial and district levels.

The main objective of this position is to support the implementation of integrated community outreach activities for the project. This involves working directly with implementing partners to ensure quality assurance of non-negotiable processes and gender transformative aspects of the approach.

  • Oversight and quality assurance of Letter of Agreements with service providers for FFS outreach
  • Supporting service providers in implementing integrated community outreach, including community awareness and planning
  • Facilitating service providers to develop detailed community outreach plans for empowering livestock farmers through FFS
  • Coordinating engagements with relevant technical departments at district level for joint planning, technical backstopping, and supervision of community outreach activities

The Community Outreach Support will also ensure that all outreach groups have the necessary learning materials, information, extension, and communication materials, as well as records systems in place.

This role requires strong analytical, report-writing, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to work in a multicultural and multi-ethnic environment and rural communities.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Livestock/Veterinary Medicine or Animal Science; Natural Resource Management, and Agriculture or related fields
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in livestock management, especially small ruminants
  • Working knowledge of English and fluency in Urdu and local languages spoken in the province

The ideal candidate should have proven training and practical experience in implementing FFS methodology for livestock and climate resilient agriculture/livestock experience would be an asset.
