The Role
  • Review and undertake detailed design, make necessary changes, and oversee the planning and execution of tunnel structures as part of a hydropower project.
  • Supervise the execution of tunnel activities undertaken by the contractor and lead/guide the team of local engineers for effective supervision of the works.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the design and construction supervision of tunnels, particularly for dams and hydropower projects. Key responsibilities include reviewing/undertaking detailed design, recommending/approving scope of work for additional investigations, reviewing geology/geotechnical information, approving drilling programs, reviewing/design layouts, preparing technical reports, checking diversion/power intake drawings, providing input to the Site Design Group, preparing FEA models using actual field data, performing technical assessments/analyses related to tunnel construction/stability, overseeing quality assurance, and monitoring/reporting project progress.

Requirements
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from an internationally recognized institution or HEC/PEC.
  • Minimum 20 years of professional experience.
  • Should have at least 15 years of expertise in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 10 years of specialized experience in the design/construction of tunnels for dams/hydropower projects.
  • Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and tunneling methods.
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).
