Job Title: Optometrist Educator

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Optometrist Educator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching assigned courses, developing their own teaching skills, and contributing to the planning of teaching programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned courses as per faculty workload policy.
  • Continue to develop your own teaching and learning skills.
  • Contribute to the planning of teaching programs.
  • Employ innovative teaching strategies and facilitate experiential learning during lessons.
  • Challenge thinking, foster debate, and develop students' ability to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking.

Requirements:

  • Meet annual targets assigned by the Head of Department.
  • Work to appropriate targets as set by the Dean/Principal to secure a high-quality teaching and learning environment.
  • Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements.
  • Set, mark, and assess work and examinations, providing feedback to students.
  • Maintain students' academic performance records for internal evaluation.
  • Execute mentoring of 15-20 students as per the Riphah Mentoring Program.
  • Update data in VLE and other required software.
  • Link and inculcate Islamic and ethical values in teaching.
  • Participate in departmental and university committees as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Experience in teaching and research in a higher education institution.
