We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our academic team as an Educator in Optometry and Orthoptics.

About the Role
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students, ensuring they achieve academic excellence.
  • They will work closely with the Head of Department to develop and implement high-quality teaching programs, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • The Educator will design and deliver courses, utilizing innovative pedagogical strategies to enhance student engagement and outcomes.
  • They will also contribute to curriculum development, research initiatives, and departmental committees.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, as the Educator will mentor students, collaborate with colleagues, and provide feedback on student work.
  • A strong commitment to academic integrity, equity, and inclusion is required.
Key Responsibilities
  1. To teach assigned courses, incorporating experiential learning techniques and rational thinking to foster critical discourse among students.
  2. To assess and provide feedback on student work and examinations, maintaining accurate records of their academic performance.
  3. To supervise student projects, field trips, and placements, providing guidance and support as needed.
  4. To update relevant data in virtual learning environments and other software, ensuring seamless integration with university systems.
  5. To integrate Islamic and ethical values into teaching practices, participating in departmental and university committees as required.
  6. To ensure teaching content and methods align with the institution's mission, addressing issues related to subordinates and student needs.
  7. To monitor and record student attendance in classes, labs, and practicals, implementing effective measures to improve attendance rates.
Requirements
  • Degree in Optometry or related field, preferably with postgraduate qualifications.
  • Teaching experience at a tertiary level, with a focus on optometry and orthoptics.
  • Proven track record of academic achievement, publication, and professional development.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with virtual learning environments and educational technology.
