About the Role

As a highly skilled educator and researcher, we seek an exceptional individual to join our faculty as an Optometrist/Orthoptist Lecturer.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To meet annual targets set by the Head of Department (HOD) to ensure academic excellence and promote student growth.
  2. Collaborate with senior academics to develop and implement high-quality teaching programs that foster a student-centered learning environment.
  3. Teach assigned courses according to faculty workload policy and adhere to university standards for teaching and assessment.
  4. Enhance your teaching skills through continuous professional development and contribute to curriculum planning, promoting innovative approaches in education.
  5. Employ engaging teaching strategies that incorporate experiential learning to enrich student experiences and encourage critical thinking.
  6. Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements, providing guidance and support as needed to facilitate student growth.
  7. Evaluate and assess student work and examinations, offering constructive feedback to help students grow academically and professionally.
  8. Maintain accurate records of student performance for internal evaluation and assessment purposes.
  9. Mentor students under the Riphah Mentoring Program, promoting their academic and personal development.
  10. Update data in the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and other required software, ensuring seamless integration and effective use of technology in teaching.
  11. Integrate Islamic and ethical values into teaching practices, reflecting the university's mission and values.
  12. Participate in departmental and university committees as required, contributing to decision-making processes and shaping the future of the institution.
  13. Ensure teaching content and methods align with the university's mission, addressing issues related to subordinates and student needs in a fair and equitable manner.
  14. Monitor and maintain accurate attendance records for students in classes, labs, and practicals, ensuring accountability and fairness in the assessment process.
  15. Develop and disseminate research findings through publications or other media, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration within the academic community.
  16. Pursue practical applications of research findings to drive innovation and impact in the field of optometry and orthoptics.
  17. Conduct independent research, serving as principal investigator and project leader, driving intellectual inquiry and discovery.
  18. Act as a line manager, overseeing the work of others in research teams and projects, or as PhD supervisor when necessary, providing guidance and support to early-career researchers.
  19. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head, supporting the institution's goals and objectives in a collaborative and proactive manner.
