Conservation Specialist

As a key member of the team, the Conservation Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of activities related to developing new projects focused on forest and wildlife conservation.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee and implement all project activities as per the agreement between stakeholders. Strong budgeting and financial management skills are also essential for this role.

The Conservation Specialist will lead and coordinate the project team, including experts, consultants, and field staff, to ensure timely delivery of the workplan and high-quality outputs. This individual will also maintain close collaboration with government agencies, research institutions, and conservation organizations to effectively implement the project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Implementation: Oversee and implement all project activities, ensuring alignment with stakeholder agreements and approved workplans.
  • Budget Management: Prepare project budgets and maintain records of project expenditures in compliance with organizational policies and donor guidelines.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate the project team, ensuring timely delivery of the workplan and high-quality outputs.
  • Collaboration: Maintain close collaboration with government agencies, research institutions, and conservation organizations to effectively implement the project.
Project/Programme Development:
  • Contribute to the expansion of the organization's forest and wildlife conservation portfolio by designing and implementing new projects aligned with global goals.
  • Develop funding proposals for complementary initiatives related to species conservation, ecological research, and policy advocacy.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the organization's One Programme Approach, ensuring integration across different conservation initiatives.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, workshops, and technical forums related to forest and biodiversity conservation and species assessments.
