Airport Duty Officer Job

This is a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of airport services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all customer-facing areas of airport operations, guaranteeing exceptional service standards and adherence to safe working procedures.
  • Assign pre-flight tasks to staff and conduct debriefings to discuss discrepancies.
  • Direct Check-in staff in handling passengers with irregularities, invalid documents, etc.
  • Make decisions regarding excess baggage charges, including charging and waiving fees.
  • In case of Denied Boarding, guide Check-in staff and handle passenger issues, updating SSCI for downgrading or offloading customers as needed.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with customs, immigration, security, police, medical, cargo, ground transport, catering, duty-free, courier companies, tour operators, and other airline staff.
  • Ensure compliance with Company Policy and local policies for handling delayed services, providing assistance to affected passengers during delays.
  • Evaluate Handling Agents' output against company standards and contract requirements.
  • Enforce strict adherence to company safety and security protocols.
  • Verify that staff adhere to Company Regulations regarding lost/found/damaged baggage, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Ensure staff wear company uniforms to required standards and manage stationery inventory, supervising distribution.
  • Prioritize quality service for VIPs, unaccompanied children, and other high-priority passengers in arrival, departure, and transit areas, coordinating with Lounge staff.
  • Communicate with Duty Manager/Airport Manager to upgrade equipment if necessary for sales optimization.
  • Liaise with Airport Support Unit/WWCC for VCRS updates in case of misconnections involving rerouting.
  • Monitor catering figures and notify the catering unit to prevent waste.
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by the Airport Manager.
  • Encourage Ground Handling Agent staff to sell ancillaries and generate revenue.
  • Brief DMs/APMs on GHA shortfalls daily.
  • Monitor ramp activities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications:

  • Ordinary National Diploma or equivalent.
