Traffic Operations Coordinator

">Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Operations Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our logistics department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our transportation services.

">Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule Management: Develop and manage truck drivers' assignments for pickup and delivery based on shipment specifications and customer preferences. Create effective routes to maximize delivery windows, reduce fuel usage, and optimize transportation costs.
  • Record-Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all cargo details, including collection and delivery times, distances traveled, fuel consumption, and any issues or delays experienced. Generate and store bills of lading, shipping manifests, and delivery receipts according to industry standards and regulations.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve transportation-related problems and challenges proactively. Manage emergency situations, such as mechanical failures, collisions, or inclement weather, by developing backup plans and providing support to drivers as needed.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to relevant regulations, including hours of service, weight restrictions, and safety standards. Monitor driver performance to promote safe driving habits and prevent infractions or accidents.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including customer service, logistics, and warehousing, to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and improve overall service quality. Provide guidance and support to truck drivers by addressing their concerns, assisting with route planning, and fostering effective team communication.
Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; further education or training in transportation management, logistics, or a related field is desirable.
  • Significant experience in logistics or dispatching, preferably in the transportation sector.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications, including dispatching software, GPS navigation systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
