Job Summary

We seek a skilled Medical Officer to provide high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience and hold an MBBS degree.

Main Responsibilities
  • A professional approach is essential when interacting with patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Medical Officers must work within their level of experience and competence, clearly documenting all orders given by consultants and their team members while caring for patients in wards.
  • To provide medical cover, routine and emergency, during duty hours and collaborate with other Medical Officers to ensure a 24-hour service to the hospital.
  • To evaluate patients admitted to the ward by taking complete histories and performing pertinent physical examinations, recording all findings in the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS).
  • To conduct daily morning, evening, and night ward rounds, ensuring patients are visited where necessary.
  • To document patient progress and any significant events in the HMIS system following ward rounds or patient examinations.
  • To consult senior team members when needed for patient care decisions.
  • To receive a handover report from colleagues and attend ward areas promptly upon commencing duty.
  • To provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care for admitted patients.
  • To manage laboring patients and perform vaginal deliveries, including vacuum deliveries, as per their residency/competency level and defined supervision.
  • To assess and manage patients in the Emergency Room (ER), working closely with specialists as needed.
  • To perform medical procedures advised by consultants, within their level of experience and competence.
  • To maintain effective communication with nursing staff regarding patient progress and address concerns promptly.
  • To discuss discharge medication with patients and write a discharge summary upon discharge.
  • Confidentiality is essential; patient medical information must be respected at all times.
  • To provide urgent medical attention and treatment to staff or visitors in case of accident or sudden illness.
  • To remain on hospital premises while on duty, ensuring continuous coverage.
  • To adhere to hospital policies and procedures, particularly those related to Health and Safety at Work.
