Data Communications Engineers play a crucial role in designing and implementing data networks that cater to various business requirements.

The primary responsibility of this position includes providing technical leadership in network architecture planning, vendor selection, capital budget allocation, and future technology planning.

Key tasks involve:

  • Leading the design and implementation of data networks, focusing on EVPN core networks.
  • Designing and developing network architectures to support large-scale IP services deployment.
  • Creating design specifications, technical requirements, diagrams, and documentation for successful data service delivery.
  • Ensuring the management of IP core routers, including configuration, software upgrades, and capacity planning.
  • Staying updated with new technologies to deliver advanced products and services.
  • Monitoring and managing IP data networks for capacity and performance needs, anticipating necessary enhancements.
  • Providing technical assistance for managed business customers, including designing new customer networks, research, quotes for new projects, and remote/on-site technical support.

Qualifications:

  • An associate's degree in computer science or a related field is a must, while a bachelor's degree in computer science is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in IP network operations, WAN and LAN technologies, and protocols.
  • Possession of a current Cisco CCNA certificate or industry equivalents.
  • Working knowledge of Ethernet networks, including 802.1ad, MPLS, EVPN, segment routing, and G.8032.
  • A strong understanding of telecom access technologies such as XGS and G-PON, Carrier Ethernet standards, and good working knowledge of wireless technologies (Wi-Fi 5,6,6e, etc.).
  • Understanding of VoIP applications and QoS is preferred.
