Strategic Procurement Lead

The Strategic Procurement Lead will specialize in implementing cost-effective purchasing strategies for non-merchandise goods and services across various departments and products/services.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with finance, business, and other key stakeholders to achieve planned benefits through strategic sourcing initiatives.
  2. Evaluate, review, validate, and approve project charters in collaboration with the finance team to ensure alignment with procurement objectives.
  3. Validate addressable spend of prospective projects to optimize resource allocation.
  4. Inform bi-monthly operating expense and capital expenditure forecasts based on procurement activities to drive business decision-making.
  5. Coordinate with finance and business to identify and quantify bottoms-up benefits opportunities based on the Procurement Roadmap.
  6. Review spend data by type (e.g., distribution, professional fees) and department (e.g., advertising, IT) to keep the Procurement Roadmap current and forward-looking.
  7. Validate spend classification of non-merchandise spend through discussions with departmental finance partners to ensure accuracy.
  8. Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
  9. Perform risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements to mitigate potential risks.
  10. Control the procurement budget and promote a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs through effective cost management.
  11. Update and revise project attributes in Contracts Tracker, including status, timing of implementation, and accounting treatment to ensure transparency and accountability.
  12. Create procedures for collecting and reporting key metrics to reduce overall expenses and improve procurement efficiency.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or accounting.
  • 5-7 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably in a strategic sourcing role.

This role requires strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, management and leadership skills, multi-tasking and time-management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
