Clinical Laboratory Specialist

The Clinical Laboratory is a dynamic academic center that serves the diagnostic needs of the country through its clinical laboratory services. These services spread across Pakistan and cater to the entire country through its tertiary lab at the main campus and 300+ specimen collection units and 13 stat labs.
The Department consists of five major sections: Chemical Pathology, Haematology & Transfusion Medicine, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. Each section is academically driven and highly engaged in research and undergraduate, postgraduate teaching and training.

Key ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for the day-to-day smooth running of the assigned section administratively as well as technically according to laboratory policies and protocols. Your key responsibilities include:
- Organizing and coordinating administrative and technical activities on a daily basis according to laboratory procedures and policies.
- Running compliance for laboratory protocol and policy guidelines.
- Handling staffing matters such as attendance, discipline, and counseling through random checks and as required.
- Executing effective communication of critical results in a timely manner and documentation as per protocol.
- Performing routine and STAT clinical laboratory tests or technical procedures and finalizing reports according to laboratory protocols and authorizing reports when required.
- Creating duty rota and approving staff over time.
- Ensuring compliance with CAP & JCIA standards.
To succeed in this role you should have:
- A BS/BSC in Biological Science (4 years program) and/or a Master's degree.
- At least 3 years' experience as a Senior Technologist at AKU or equivalent relevant experience gained at a hospital or other healthcare setting.
- Thorough knowledge of laboratory testing procedures.
- Good knowledge of employee relations techniques.
