Lead Software Architect Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced software architect to lead our development team. As a key member of our technology organization, you will be responsible for providing architecture leadership, guidance, and mentoring to our engineering teams.

The successful candidate should have a strong understanding and proven hands-on experience of designing scalable web applications with large user bases. Experience working with multiple high-throughput and low-latency applications is also essential.

The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of software development methodologies and processes, as well as a thorough understanding of databases and complex data modeling. Additionally, they should have a track record as a strong individual contributor earlier in their career, with continued interest in rolling up their sleeves and pitching in with coding when needed.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and formulate the appropriate architecture to meet system functionality needs.
  • Decide when to advocate and when to compromise to arrive at mutually acceptable solutions.
  • Work with the development team to translate software architecture into design.
  • Participate actively in the development process as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with product management, development, quality assurance, and devops teams.
Requirements:
  • At least 8 years of experience in hands-on software development, application design, and delivery of multiple large-scale projects.
  • Proficient in scalable software design and architecture.
  • Experience working with cloud-native solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, networking, and DevOps fundamentals.
  • Thorough understanding of databases and demonstrable experience with complex data modeling and optimizations.
  • A track record of mentoring teams on software development best practices, particularly towards maintainability and security.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Advocate for solid principles in day-to-day development and mentor teams on software development best practices.
  • Participate in architecture audits across the company and provide value in all areas where gaps exist.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Provable real-world experience in designing and maintaining applications built on multiple architecture patterns.
