Fabrication Expert Position

We are seeking a seasoned Fabrication Manager to lead and oversee fabric development, sourcing, and technical validation activities.

This role requires expertise in fabric construction, yarn selection, knitting techniques, and collaboration with internal production and external vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of quality fabrics aligned with fashion trends and customer requirements.

  • Develop and source knitted fabrics based on seasonal product briefs, buyer requirements, and market trends.
  • Maintain vigilance in developing material requirement plans aligned with received orders during the material planning phase.
  • Possess proven fabric R&D experience and collaborate closely with merchandising and design teams to develop comprehensive fabric libraries and swatches.
  • Ensure fabric meets compliance, quality, and technical specifications as per buyer standards.
  • Maintain a strong vendor base for knitted fabrics, ensuring competitive pricing and reliable lead times.
  • Coordinate lab dips, strike-offs, and bulk approvals in collaboration with QA and buying teams.
  • Manage internal testing, inspection, and record-keeping for all fabric-related parameters.
  • Monitor fabric stocks, forecast future requirements, and manage procurement plans accordingly.
  • Drive cost optimization through negotiation, alternative sourcing, and innovation in yarn/fabric structures.
  • Stay updated on latest market developments, yarn compositions, and sustainable options in fabric sourcing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Fabric Development: Develop and source knitted fabrics based on seasonal product briefs, buyer requirements, and market trends.
  • Material Planning: Maintain vigilance in developing material requirement plans aligned with received orders during the material planning phase.
  • Fabric R&D: Possess proven fabric R&D experience and collaborate closely with merchandising and design teams to develop comprehensive fabric libraries and swatches.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure fabric meets compliance, quality, and technical specifications as per buyer standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Fabric Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in fabric sourcing/development, with a strong focus on knitted garments.
  • Solid understanding of yarn types, knitting machines, fabric finishes, and fabric testing parameters.
  • Experience working with international brands and understanding of their technical and compliance standards.
  • Strong negotiation, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in fabric costings, lead time planning, and documentation.
  • Good command over MS Office (Excel, Word) and ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with sustainable and eco-friendly fabric options.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, buyer-driven environment.
