Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Molecular Biology

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join its research team. As a key member of the department, you will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research in molecular biology, focusing on the investigation of pathogen genetics using sequencing-based technologies.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in molecular biology or a related field and 2-3 years of relevant work experience. They should be proficient in wet-lab techniques, including Sanger sequencing and Next-generation sequencing, as well as genome, exome, and RNA sequencing. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role.

The ideal candidate will be able to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures, demonstrate knowledge of safety management principles, and comply with safety policies and procedures. They should also be able to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to the development of a research strategy for ongoing projects.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct experiments, devise instrumentation & techniques, protocol optimization and execution of experiment
  • Analyse test results and compile data for research studies
  • Correlate data compiled in research & interpret the results
  • Develop new concepts, methods & techniques to solve scientific problems
  • Carry out literature survey, data searching & retrieval, utilizing a variety of techniques & technologies

About the Role:

This is a grant-funded contractual position, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of medical research. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic research team, working closely with senior faculty members to conduct innovative research projects.

Requirements:

  • PhD in molecular biology or a related field
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency in wet-lab techniques, including Sanger sequencing and Next-generation sequencing
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics analysis tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety management principles and compliance with safety policies and procedures
