About the Project

The project aims to bridge the barriers faced by the transgender community in flood relief and rehabilitation efforts. We seek a Provincial Program Coordinator to lead this initiative in Sindh province.

In partnership with PJN, you will work closely with provincial authorities, humanitarian organizations, and local stakeholders to develop inclusive policies and practices. Your primary objective will be to ensure the effective implementation of flood relief and response actions that prioritize the needs of the transgender community.

The project focuses on three key outcomes:

  • Establishing a national integrated response and coordination mechanism to ensure transgender inclusion in flood relief and rehabilitation activities.
  • Improving access to flood relief and rehabilitation services for the transgender community.
  • Increasing awareness and empowering the transgender community to participate effectively in flood relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in building partnerships with provincial government departments, humanitarian organizations, and civil society groups.
  • Advocate for transgender rights-based approaches and inclusive operations within provincial authorities and humanitarian actors.
  • Maintain professional relationships with stakeholders, including local government representatives, community leaders, media, CSOs, and humanitarian actors.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to promote project goals and objectives.
  • Supervise and manage provincial-level project activities, providing technical support to district partners and fellows.
  • Establish a provincial working group and coordinate with PJN-PMU to devise inclusive policies and practices for the transgender community.
  • Conduct meetings and consultations with provincial stakeholders to advocate for policy interventions and identify gaps and barriers to transgender inclusion.
  • Organize focus group discussions and document proceedings to inform policy development and recommendations.
  • Support district-wise trainings and facilitate Transgender persons' participation.
  • Participate in online/offline events, discussions, and webinars to collect feedback and share best practices from targeted districts.
  • Accompany PMU teams on travel to targeted districts to identify themes, meet stakeholders, and collect human interest stories and audio/video clips.
  • Facilitate initiatives on advocacy and campaigning with relevant stakeholders.
  • Any other task assigned by PMU or PJN management.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Sociology, Public Policy, or a relevant discipline.
  • 5-8 years of experience in program management, advocacy, and policy reform.
  • Experience in developing human rights frameworks, strategy, and policy advocacy.
  • Ability to network with diverse stakeholders, build alliances, and collaborate with civil society organizations and forums.
  • Extensive experience working with or coordinating partners at community and national levels.
  • Good understanding of programs and project management, with leadership skills.
  • Fluency in English and Urdu language and excellent writing skills.
