Job Title: Pakistan Variety Trialing and Development Lead

Role Summary:
This position is part of a team responsible for yield/phenotyping within the R&D organization. The trialing scientist will lead variety advancement and development aligned with business priorities. They will collaborate closely with breeders to develop and select varieties, support the development and implementation of performance and quality testing programs to capture environmental and phenotype data, and define experimental designs that support robust data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, coordinate, and deliver Pakistan variety testing plans to develop and select varieties that meet business-defined product profiles. Create phenotyping and yield trial programs supporting commercial decisions, delivering data to the global breeder center, and facilitating go-to-market value propositions aligned with sustainability and consumer targets.
  2. Build collaborative relationships with internal partners including the breeding team, trait discovery team, and variety-specific agronomy crop technology team. Support the development of product profiles with input from processing, quality, sensory, business, supply chain, and procurement teams.
  3. Serve as the central point for the variety qualification approval committee in Pakistan, driving final alignment on varieties that will be part of the portfolio for growers.
  4. Develop and maintain external breeding partnerships to identify, test, and validate new varieties through commercial approval in Pakistan.
  5. Collaborate with R&D sector trialing teams to understand region-specific variety performance and maintain current data on local varieties in the global catalog.
  6. Ensure successful outcomes and timelines while adhering to guidelines, standards, and compliance. Monitor and track outcomes, and prepare for future challenges.

Requirements:
  1. A PhD (with >5 years experience) or MSc + 10 years experience in an ag seed or chemical company, with trial experience in potato, crop trait valuation, strategic needs assessment, trait/variety portfolio management, or related fields.
  2. Experience in executing and managing trials supporting performance and quality testing programs, capturing environmental and phenotype data, and designing experiments to support robust decisions and breeding models.
  3. Leadership experience and understanding of strategy, brand management, sales, and market analysis.
  4. Specialized knowledge of variety testing, statistical experimental design, field plot techniques, data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact productively across all organizational levels.
  6. Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20% domestically.
