Legal Manager Job Description

The Legal Manager provides comprehensive legal advice and support to ensure the bank's operations, contracts, and transactions comply with applicable laws and regulations. This includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various agreements, managing legal risks, and ensuring adherence to corporate governance standards.

This role involves providing legal guidance on a wide range of matters including banking operations, lending, securities, contracts, and regulatory compliance. The Legal Manager must monitor changes in laws and regulations and advise the bank on necessary actions to ensure compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts and agreements.
  • Ensure that the bank adheres to corporate governance standards and practices.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure legal considerations are integrated into decision-making processes.
  • Support the Board of Directors and senior management in fulfilling their governance responsibilities.
  • Manage the legal aspects of commercial transactions.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB)/Master's degree in Law (LLM) from a recognized institution.
  • At least 5 years of experience with a focus on banking, finance, or corporate law.
  • Strong knowledge of banking laws, financial regulations, and corporate governance standards.
  • Preferred Skills: Experience working in a legal department within a bank or financial institution. Knowledge of international banking regulations and cross-border transactions. Proficiency in legal research and use of legal databases. Ethical and professional integrity. Strategic thinking.
