Revenue Cycle Specialist Job Description

We are an emergency medical transportation and non-emergency medical transportation company seeking an experienced revenue cycle specialist. Key responsibilities include invoice generation, review, submission, tracking, and follow-up; as well as eligibility checks, claim submission using our billing platform Ability by Inovalon, and appeals.

  • Responsibilities include identifying patient reimbursement issues, ensuring claims, denials, and appeals are efficiently processed, and resolving billing-related issues.
  • The specialist should be able to manage both sides of the business, including a logistics-based process for NEMT and an online billing platform for EMS.

Success in this role requires being able to manage ongoing collection efforts while improving department functionality without interrupting them.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement a system to ensure accurate billing information is entered into the billing system.
  • Supervise the revenue cycle department in various duties such as account management, insurance provider communication, collections, cash posting, and billing.
  • Manage staff performance through regular feedback, performance reviews, and one-on-one meetings.
  • Oversee hiring and training of staff.
  • Craft a strategy for revenue cycle and business growth, focusing on areas like revenue analysis, business analysis, and payers with high denial rates.

Requirements:

  • Seasoned revenue cycle professional with professional billing experience.
  • Transportation billing skills similar to primary care billing, with a focus on tracking and follow-up across different lines of business.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and medical office software.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Proven experience in healthcare billing.
  • Familiarity with health insurance providers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
