Job Title: Pipeline Corrosion Protection Specialist

Job Description:

The primary function of this position is to provide technical assistance in pipeline corrosion protection activities.

This role requires the ability to coordinate with government departments/agencies to obtain necessary permissions for carrying out pipeline corrosion protection jobs.

Responsibilities include maintaining pipeline integrity by performing rectification and maintenance of installed pipeline protection systems, applying protective coatings and wrappings to pipelines, and participating in field tests to identify potential corrosion risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with government departments/agencies to arrange necessary permissions for carrying out pipeline corrosion protection jobs.
  • Perform rectification/maintenance of installed pipeline protection systems in accordance with specified standards.
  • Apply coating and wrapping to pipelines to achieve optimum corrosion protection operations.
  • Participate in field tests including Pipeline Current Mapping (PCM), Close Interval Potential Survey (CIPS), structure potential, Direct Current Voltage Gradient (DCVG), soil resistivity etc.
  • Plan recoating/rectification of pipelines considering test/survey results.
  • Assist in survey, design, and data collection.
  • Present charts and tables to management.
  • Develop pipeline protection designs including anode type, quantity, and location; rectifier location, test station locations and other design features.
  • Install sacrificial anode system for pipeline protection against corrosion and conduct post-installation survey.
  • Implement policies and procedures regarding pipeline corrosion protection and undertake required corrosion control work for pipelines and systems.
  • Prepare survey reports and findings highlighting coating related deterioration.
  • Revalidate Pipeline Integrity Assessment and identify vulnerable sections.
  • Plan and coordinate Root-Cause-Analysis (RCA) and Fitness for Service (FFS) assessment and propose replacement plans for pressure equipment and pipeline.
  • Initiate procurement of necessary material and equipment.
  • Monitor and check coating status of under-construction and new pipeline projects.

Requirements are a strong understanding of pipeline corrosion prevention methods, excellent communication skills, and experience working with relevant technologies.
