The Solar PV Design Engineer I provides oversight throughout the proposal and design phase of solar energy projects. This encompasses all aspects of a solar system, including racking, equipment foundations, fencing, and site construction support.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Basis of Design: Establish solar PV system design parameters, incorporating module selection, string sizing, ground coverage ratio, inverter selection, inverter power factor requirements, inverter loading ratio, and cable sizing
  • Design Development: Design solar PV systems, including one-line diagrams and array layouts
  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrate structural, mechanical, and electrical design skills with the ability to generate accurate, detailed construction drawings and documents using AutoCAD software
  • Collaboration: Closely collaborate with project development and construction teams in the design, development, and construction of solar PV systems
  • Analysis and Evaluation: Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices to tasks, particularly when analyzing current technical tools and evaluating their effectiveness
  • Energy Simulation: Perform energy simulation analysis using PVsyst to aid the Finance and Business Development team in acquiring new projects
  • Supplier Collaboration: Collaborate with suppliers and 3rd-party personnel to facilitate the design and development of solar PV systems
  • Reporting: Assist in creating 30% and IFC PVsyst reports
  • Continuous Improvement: Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and problem-solving

National Electric Code Knowledge: The ideal candidate will have a high degree of familiarity with the National Electric Code Book regarding PV Solar Systems.
