Job Title: Molecular Biology Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Analyze laboratory data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  2. Perform routine and special molecular tests to identify genetic variations and anomalies.
  3. Verify results to ensure precision and quality.
  4. Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments to ensure optimal performance.
  5. Routine quality controls, EQA, and interpretation.
  6. Inform relevant medical professionals of abnormal test results.
  7. Proper storage of abnormal samples in accordance with regulations.
  8. Adhere to infection control and ISO standards.
  9. Train and instruct junior staff members on laboratory procedures.
  10. Issue reports detailing test results and findings.
  11. Reject tests if necessary, adhering to specified criteria.
  12. Repeat tests as required for accurate analysis.
  13. Monitor and manage inventory levels on a daily basis.
Periodic Duties/Responsibilities:
  1. Order and maintain stock of essential kits and consumables.
  2. Regularly update and maintain laboratory data records.
  3. Schedule monthly maintenance of analyzers according to prescribed procedures.
  4. Document weekly maintenance activities.
  5. Address any analyzer errors or issues by contacting the supplier's biomedical department and engineers.
  6. Prepare weekly and monthly requisitions.
About This Role:

This role involves working in a fast-paced laboratory environment where attention to detail and strong analytical skills are essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing laboratory findings, performing routine and special molecular tests, and verifying results. They will also be responsible for maintaining and calibrating laboratory instruments, training junior staff members, and issuing reports.

In addition to these key responsibilities, the successful candidate will also be responsible for periodic duties such as ordering and maintaining stock, regularly updating and maintaining laboratory data records, scheduling monthly maintenance of analyzers, documenting weekly maintenance activities, addressing any analyzer errors or issues, and preparing weekly and monthly requisitions.
