Employment Lawyer Role in APAC

Job Summary:

This role supports the Director of Legal Employment by providing legal advice on labor and employment matters for the APAC region. The position aims to minimize potential legal liability while allowing operational business goals to be achieved.

The role functions as a partner with stakeholders from People & Culture, Legal Affairs, Compliance, Communications, and others to resolve claims and litigation matters, oversee internal investigations, and develop company policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with applicable laws.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Serves as an employment law resource available to other employment law personnel, operating executives, People & Culture, and other stakeholders.
  2. Researches and responds to inquiries regarding employment law issues, including employee discipline, work rules and policies, employee contracts and employment terms, leaves of absence and other accommodations, reorganizations and reductions in force, wage and hour issues, and business ethics issues.
  3. Ensures that employment-related claims are addressed promptly and thoroughly, and resolved in a manner designed to minimize potential liability.
  4. Supervises and/or partners with People Relations and People & Culture personnel to provide legal support for internal investigations.

Requirements:

Work Experience

  • Minimum 6+ years in labor/employment field.
  • Experience as in-house counsel and/or within entertainment industry preferred but not required.

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification

  • Undergraduate degree is required.
  • License to practice law in India is necessary.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of law and the legal environment sufficient to prepare legal documents, represent the company in legal proceedings, and advise management.
  • Ability to prepare, negotiate, and interpret agreements and other legal documents.
  • Capacity to research legal questions and provide clear, practical, and well-reasoned written and oral advice.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive and motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills.
