Job Overview:

As a Piping Designer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and drafting piping systems for various projects. You will be responsible for creating detailed drawings, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed piping layout drawings, isometric drawings, and pipe support drawings using specialized software such as AutoCAD, CADWorx, Plant 3D, or similar tools.
  • Develop and update P&IDs, plot plans, general arrangements (GAs), and fabrication drawings to ensure alignment and clash-free design.
  • Interpret engineering specifications, piping material specifications (PMS), and vendor drawings to inform design decisions.
  • Participate in design reviews, model walk-throughs, and site surveys as required to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant industry codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, etc.).
  • Generate material take-offs (MTOs) and assist with procurement documentation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and revision control in line with company standards and QA/QC procedures.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of hands-on experience in piping design and drafting, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, etc.
  • Proficiency in specialized software such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, CADWorx, PDMS, SP3D, or other 2D/3D modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.1/B31.3, ISO, ANSI, and other piping codes.
  • Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection tools (e.g., Navisworks) is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of piping materials, fittings, valves, and fabrication practices.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and in teams.
