Careem is building a comprehensive digital platform to revolutionize mobility, food delivery, and payments in the Middle East.

We are looking for an accomplished AI Engineer to harness data-driven insights and develop strategic models that enhance user experiences, drive business decisions, and foster innovation in the region's AI landscape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a long-term vision to reimagine customer acquisition and engagement strategies, leveraging data-driven decision making.
  • Conduct exploratory analysis to understand ecosystems, user behavior, identify new growth opportunities, and build predictive models of user behavior for analysis and product enhancements.
  • Influence data/ML model development and instrumentation to optimize product experiences, uncover new areas of opportunity, and generate insights for product and business decisions.
  • Provide leadership through data-driven recommendations to communicate business performance, root cause analysis, and experimentation results influencing product and business decisions.
  • Implement scalable machine learning algorithms for production use on large datasets.
  • Embark on data analysis projects to gain deeper understanding of phenomena and discover untapped areas of growth and optimization.
  • Answer complex analytical questions from large datasets to inform product and service development at Careem.
  • Help define and track key metrics for specific projects.
  • Design and run controlled experiments, analyze resulting data, and communicate findings with other teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience in data mining, predictive modeling, time series analysis, machine learning, Big Data methodologies, data transformation, and cleaning.
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Strong problem-solving and coding skills.
  • Solid knowledge of marketplace problems in ride-hailing and delivery services.
  • Solid understanding of AB testing, classic ML, and DL.
  • Fluency in English along with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, Hive, and database technologies such as Hadoop, BigQuery, Amazon EMR, Oracle, SAP, DB2, Teradata, MS SQL Server, and MySQL.
  • Business intelligence and visualization tools experience (Tableau, MicroStrategy, ChartIO, Qlik) along with geospatial data processing skills is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
