Staff Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. This role is critical in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting overall financial management.

  • Record and verify financial transactions daily, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure our financial records match the bank statements, addressing any discrepancies promptly.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, recording bills and invoices, and maintaining records of outstanding customer invoices and vendor bills.
  • Enter general journal entries as needed for financial transactions that don't fit standard categories.
  • Reconcile vendor and customer statements to align our records with external statements, resolving discrepancies.
  • Accurately record month-end accruals to reflect outstanding expenses or revenues for the period.
  • Assist in recording and processing payroll transactions.
  • Prepare and maintain prepaid expense schedules to accurately reflect prepaid expenses on the balance sheet.
  • Maintain an up-to-date fixed assets register, tracking asset value and depreciation.
  • Reconcile inventory records with physical counts, making necessary adjustments to maintain accurate valuations.

Key Responsibilities:

  2. Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  3. Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, providing timely and accurate financial information.
  4. Collaborate with other departments to achieve organizational goals.
  5. Stay up-to-date with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
