Job Title: Pipeline Protection Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Pipeline Protection Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our asset integrity management system, you will be responsible for ensuring the protection and integrity of our pipelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the formulation of policies and procedures for asset integrity management, including corrosion control work for transmission and distribution pipelines.
  • Design and implement corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection systems, including specifications, calculations, and graphic and statistical analysis.
  • Resolve cathodic protection and interference problems, and develop corrective action plans.
  • Manage various surveys and develop coating rehabilitation plans based on survey findings.
  • Maintain and operate cathodic protection systems, including CCT power sources, ground beds, and pipe-to-soil potential.
  • Monitor rectification activities and pipeline performance, ensuring effective cathodic protection.
  • Conduct asset integrity surveys, including thickness surveys, coating integrity assessments, and close interval surface potential surveys.
  • Analyze survey reports and provide feedback on coating deterioration and pipeline integrity assessment.
  • Review corrosion monitoring reports and guide action accordingly.
  • Analyze pipeline hardware data and prepare course-of-action plans.
  • Develop capabilities for in-house repair of faulty equipment and stay up-to-date with research and development for new technologies.
  • Utilize Enterprise Asset Management System for PM plans, material ordering, root cause failure analysis, and preventive maintenance scheduling.
  • Ensure timely procurement of necessary materials and equipment, and follow up on capital works projects.
  • Provide critical assistance to senior management in preparing, monitoring, and controlling revenue and capital expenditures.
  • Manage, motivate, and train staff to provide corrosion control services for underground infrastructure.
  • Supervise new pipeline projects and monitor coating quality at project handover.

Requirements:

  • BS/BE in Metallurgy, Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in cathodic protection design, supervision, coating inspections, and asset integrity inspections.
  • Well-balanced interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior certification in TWI/NACE (AMPP) or API is preferred.
