Compliance Officer Role Overview

The role of the Compliance Officer is to ensure that all operations within an organization are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. This involves supporting the Compliance Manager in the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring compliance with AML/KYC policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Compliance Manager in implementing compliance initiatives, as determined by head office guidance.
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of applicable internal and external compliance requirements, and identify any issues that could impact the organization.
  • Assist the Compliance Manager in ensuring that internal procedures and policies remain compliant with regulations and changes, providing guidance and advice to business units as necessary.
  • Facilitate proactive relationships between business units and compliance, to ensure timely involvement and compliant solutions to business issues.
  • Support due diligence processes for high-risk businesses and provide decisions accordingly.
  • Review proposals for high-risk relationships, highlighting risks for senior management sign-off.
  • Provide compliance feedback on eName checker referrals from branches and enable functions.
  • Prepare reports on compliance and AML issues, ensuring timely delivery to the Compliance Manager and regulatory authorities.
  • Respond promptly to audit and assurance queries.
Requirements:
  • Graduate with 3-4 years' banking experience in KYC/EDD.
  • Experience in handling KYC/EDD reviews for wealth banking clients is preferred.
  • Computer literacy and good command over spoken and written English is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of UAE regulations is an added advantage.
  • Good presentation skills and Excel skills.
  • Efficient and logical approach to problem-solving.
  • Good decision-making ability.
