Job Summary:

The Senior Operations Leader will provide overall leadership to the operations team on food safety and compliance. This involves planning, execution, monitoring, and supervision of safeguard initiatives to ensure Abbott Standards.

This position focuses on maintaining the highest standard of food safety, quality, and system complaints. It drives projects and actions related to continuous improvement in these areas.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety and hygiene compliance in manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement a culture of food safety and quality at the shop floor.
  • Promote good human relations within the department and plant-wide, ensuring employees adhere to Abbott Values.
  • Improve efficiency and quality in manufacturing operations.
  • Review maintenance programs for all equipment and facilities to ensure the highest level of food safety and hygiene.
  • Avoid operational impacts due to food safety and compliance-related issues.
  • Drive Business Excellence Program and Lean/Sigma continuous improvement initiatives in the department.
  • Execute non-routine cleanings, risk assessment, and mitigation as per revised EMP policy.
  • Investigate non-routine detects, corrective, and preventive actions.
  • Conduct Global CAPA assessment and execution.
  • Proactively execute preventive actions to avoid POP events as per revised safeguard policy.
  • Maintain documentation in line with global safeguard policy compliance.
  • Identify food safety improvement actions, closure, monitoring for compliance, and sustenance.
  • Optimize GMP maintenance work order and change management compliance.
  • Provide training to teams to educate and motivate employees to maintain the highest level of food safety and compliance.
  • Lead and manage specific projects as required.
  • Report Safety, Quality, Food Safety, and People-related incidents in a timely manner.
  • Ensure 5S and safe working across areas of operations, cleaning, and sanitizing chemicals storage and handling.
  • Analyze Root Cause and execute CAPA for all events, food safety observations, and complaints in the area.
  • Ensure 100% adherence to SOPs for operations, cleaning, and hygiene maintenance.
  • Handle internal and external audits and compliance reviews to ensure food safety concerns are addressed in Manufacturing.
  • Engage self and operation's team in continuous improvement of overall operations.
  • Take responsibility for career development, planning, and performance discussions of team members through continuous training and coaching.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Dairy Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Food Science, Microbiology, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience or Diploma with relevant equivalent experience.
  • Sound people management skills.
  • Good understanding of production and/or material operations and knowledge of planning and forecasting techniques.
  • Knowledge of quality and food safety systems.
  • Proficiency in Gujarati is an added advantage.
  • Ability to organize, motivate, and develop employees.
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain healthy relationships with colleagues working in different functions at the site.
  • Communication skills to understand and provide necessary feedback or solutions to the site team and internal customers.
  • Strategic thinking to gain in-depth understanding of Site Operations and related complex issues and provide feasible solutions at all levels.
  • Decision-making skills to handle different problems at the Site.
