Medical Services Leadership Role

This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management of medical services within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To develop and implement strategies for scrutinizing, managing, evaluating, and finalizing patient care systems.
  • To assist the Director of Medical Services in planning, coordinating, managing, and controlling medical, paramedical, and nursing staff.
  • To foster strong working relationships with support and allied services teams.
  • To provide assistance to the Director of Medical Services on all matters related to medical services.
  • To ensure the smooth functioning of diagnostics, laboratories, OT, ICU, CCU, Cath lab, and Emergency departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise wards to ensure that medical procedures are strictly adhered to.
  2. Initiate requisitions for the procurement or replacement of medical equipment and implements.
  3. Report on the state of medical facilities, equipment, and installations to the Director of Medical Services.
  4. Maintain duty rosters for medical staff, ensuring fair relief and rotation.
  5. Evaluate administrative needs from a medical perspective and inform the Director of Medical Services accordingly.
Performance Evaluation and Supervision:
  • Monitor ICU staff activities related to patient reception, handling, and shifting.
  • Check ICU records, including progress notes, procedure notes, and special calls.
  • Monitor medicine disposals and other items used in ICU.
  • Supervise Cath lab staff, ECG, ETT, USG & Echo staff.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Approve leave for medical staff working in different units, upon recommendation from Heads of Department or Head Nurses.
  • Daily report to the Director of Medical Services on any emergent medical care matters.
  • Coordinate with Administration Departments regarding patient care and running of Medical Units.
  • Ensure implementation of organizational rules/policies in medical/surgical units.
  • Supervise maintenance of vital statistics and patient records for future planning purposes.
Job Specification

Education:
MBBS and preferably an MBA or other related specialization in medical care management.

Experience:
Minimum 5 years administration experience in the government, private, or non-government sectors.

Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills, inter- and intra-professional/group communication skills, conflict resolution, and operational management/supervision skills. Fair amount of computer literacy and knowledge of relevant hospital management information systems/software operations. Effective operational leadership and a humane and professional work attitude.
