Senior Financial Controller Opportunity

  • We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Senior Financial Controller to oversee the accounting operations for our growing retail chain.
  • This role is pivotal in ensuring financial accuracy, driving operational efficiencies, and supporting business decisions.

About the Role:

  1. Oversee all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
  2. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to GAAP standards.
  3. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across multiple locations.
  4. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements.
  5. Develop internal control policies, procedures, and systems to safeguard company assets.
  6. Lead the month-end and year-end close processes.
  7. Work closely with store managers to optimize inventory management and cost controls.
  8. Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
  9. Implement financial systems and tools to improve automation, reporting, and efficiency.
  10. Provide financial insight and recommendations to support growth and profitability.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  2. 7+ years of accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  3. Experience in retail operations highly preferred.
  4. Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax laws, and regulatory reporting.
  5. Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage).
  6. Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with BI/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  7. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Prior experience with fuel tax filings and inventory shrink analysis.
  2. Familiarity with environmental and fuel compliance financial reporting.
  3. Hands-on experience integrating financial systems during expansions.
