Job Opportunity: Disaster Risk Reduction Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Disaster Risk Reduction Specialist. The successful candidate will have expertise in disaster risk management, early warning systems, and anticipatory action planning.

  • The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of progressive experience in disaster risk reduction, early warning systems, and anticipatory action planning.
  • A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in hydro-met modeling, GIS mapping, and trigger development is required.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of anticipatory action mechanisms, integrating hydro-met modeling, GIS analysis, and trigger-based early warning protocols.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective early warning systems and anticipatory action plans.
  • Conduct hydro-met modeling and GIS analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with meteorological agencies, academia, and humanitarian actors.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Disaster Management, Meteorology, Hydrology, GIS, Environmental Science, Geography, or related field.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multi-stakeholder groups in complex environments.
