System Technical Lead Job Description

This role involves overseeing the daily operations of a technical team, ensuring efficient delivery of IT services to diverse clients. The System Technical Lead will be responsible for troubleshooting complex system issues, implementing best practices, and serving as the primary technical contact for clients.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical acumen and exceptional leadership skills. They will work closely with management to develop strategies for enhancing service delivery and improving team performance. This includes participating in client meetings to discuss project requirements and deliverables, as well as coordinating with vendors for hardware and software procurement.

The successful candidate will have experience in systems technical lead roles or similar, with strong knowledge of system architecture and cloud services. They should be proficient in managing and troubleshooting both Windows and Linux environments, as well as having hands-on experience with disaster recovery and backup solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of systems engineers and administrators
  • Troubleshoot resolve and escalate technical issues as necessary
  • Oversee system installations upgrades and configurations
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures
  • Participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements and deliverables
  • Support continuous improvement of processes and procedures
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware and software procurement
  • Assist in development of client reports and documentation
  • Conduct training sessions for team members and clients

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a systems technical lead role or similar
  • Strong knowledge of system architecture and cloud services
  • Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting both Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience with virtualization technologies e.g. VMware Hyper-V
  • Understanding of network protocols and security best practices
  • Hands-on experience with disaster recovery and backup solutions
  • Familiarity with monitoring and performance tuning of server systems
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong customer service orientation
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments
  • BS/BA in Computer Science Information Technology or relevant field
  • Relevant certifications e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator are a plus
