Academic Anesthesia Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Professor/Associate/Assistant Professor - Anesthesia to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lecture and Teaching: Design and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and clinical/practical skills small group discussions for MBBS/BDS students, incorporating real-world examples and case studies.
• Postgraduate Training: Develop and facilitate postgraduate trainees (FCPS and DCPS) for clinical presentations, small group discussions, case-based/problem-based teaching, journal clubs, teaching psychomotor skills, and preparation for inter-module examinations and dissertations.
• Research and Development: Collaborate with faculty members and postgraduate trainees in research and development through continuous education and a learning environment, supporting publication requirements as part of career development research activities.
• Clinical and Practical Skills: Enhance and develop knowledge for basic management of common patient care problems, including emergency treatment and decision-making for appropriate treatment, to improve clinical and practical skills of students.
• Examination Conduct: Assist and facilitate the Head of Department in conducting examinations of MBBS/BDS, ensuring objectivity and fairness.
• Patient Care: Ensure regular OPD sessions for continuing medical care, managing and supervising new patients referred for specialist advice, and maintaining confidentiality.
• Clinical Rounds: Conduct regular clinical rounds in the ward to manage and supervise the progress and care of indoor patients, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
• Medical Procedures: Conduct medical procedures in the ward under the supervision of senior consultants, developing a monitoring mechanism to ensure all recommended diagnostics and investigations are carried out.
• Specialist Advice: Provide specialist advice on medical problems of patients referred from other departments, ensuring timely and effective intervention and referral.
• Emergency Assessment: Assess patients in the emergency department if required for consultancy, making rapid and informed decisions and communicating effectively with the healthcare team.
• On-Call Commitment: Ensure on-call commitments after regular duty hours to provide cover for critical patients round the clock, demonstrating flexibility and commitment.
• Departmental Inquiries: Assist the Head of Department/Professor in departmental confidential inquiries of mortalities, maintaining professional standards and ethics.
• Staff Management: Manage, supervise, and train PGs/MOs/HOs and other paramedical staff to enhance patient management skills, promoting teamwork and collaboration and resolving conflicts.
• Duty Rota: Prepare and monitor duty rota of the department, including paramedical staff, and manage and resolve staff management and placement issues, ensuring efficient resource allocation and minimizing downtime.
• Hospital Liaison: Maintain close liaison with hospital administration to ensure proper ward management, including patient clinical records and routine matters related to demand, supply, and complaints, fostering strong relationships and improving patient outcomes.
