About the Role

This entry-level position involves working as a GIS Specialist with expertise in geospatial analysis, satellite imagery processing, and integration of AI/ML techniques using Python. You should have proficiency in AI/ML plugins for GIS platforms (e.g. QGIS, Google Earth Engine) and programming in Python.

As a member of the team, you'll work closely with our AI/ML engineer and project manager to support the identification, validation, and interpretation of solar PV installations across selected regions. This is a great opportunity to be part of an innovative project at the intersection of technology, energy, and climate.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement geospatial techniques to automate the analysis of satellite imagery for solar PV site identification.
  • Prepare, clean, and manage GIS datasets from various sources (including administrative boundaries, grid data, etc.).
  • Assist the AI/ML team in training and validating the model using spatial data.
  • Support the project team in organizing and analyzing regional solar trends.
  • Draft technical geospatial reports supported by spatial analytics and ML models.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of Herald's deliverables through proactive cross-team coordination.
  • Represent the company at geospatial and energy sector events.

Requirements:

  • Masters or bachelors degree in Geoinformatics, Engineering, Computer Sciences, Environmental Science, Geography or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience in GIS or remote sensing and proficiency in QGIS or ArcGIS.
  • Ability to conduct spatial analysis for built-up areas to assess solar PV deployment.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent English language, presentation, and communication skills and ability to work in a small team in a highly collaborative culture.
  • Passion for using data and technology to accelerate renewable energy adoption.
